The Spectre air intake system adds great looks, sound and performance to your truck. This intake comes with all components needed for an easy installation, along with detailed installation instructions. The tools needed are shown:

  • 5/16” or 8mm nut driver
  • Flat blade screwdriver
  • 10mm socket
  • Ratchet
  • 8” extension
  • Phillips screwdriver

  1. Start by turning off the ignition and disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Lift and remove the engine cover.
  3. Disconnect the mass air flow sensor electrical connector. Remove the wire harness clips from the factory air box. Disconnect the small fuel pressure regulator hose from the factory air box. Disconnect the breather hose from the plastic “T” fitting at the engine.
  4. Loosen the two bolts on the air box as well as the clamp on the throttle body. Once everything is disconnected, lift the air box assembly up and out of the engine bay.
  5. Install the provided seal around the edges of heatshield. Attach the velocity stack to the heatshield using the provided flex coupler and clamps.
  6. Remove the mass air flow sensor from the factory intake tube and install it into the Spectre intake tube. Install the mass air flow sensor calibration sleeve into the tube.
  7. Install the reducer coupler onto throttle body. Tighten the clamp on the throttle side and make sure the intake side clamp is installed but left loose.
  8. Install the heat shield. Some vehicles may have an alarm system horn in place on the fender well. Secure the heatshield using the supplied hardware, Then using the factory hardware, secure the heatshield. The horn may have to be relocated in order to bolt in the heat shield.
  9. Install the intake tube with mass air flow sensor into the throttle body coupler. The sensor side should be closer to the heat shield.
  10. Install the small portion of the intake tube with the last two couplers on each end. Once in place, make sure everything is lined up properly and tighten all the clamps.
  11. Reconnect the mass air flow sensor electrical connector and install the breather hose provided in the kit. Reconnect the fuel pressure regulator hose.
  12. Install the air filter onto the velocity stack and tighten the clamp.
  13. On 5.7 liter engines, remove the front engine cover mounting stud from the intake manifold. Install the provided stud into the mounting stud location. Install the provided stud extension onto the stud, then install the stock mounting stud into the extension. Reinstall the engine cover.
  14. Lastly, reconnect the vehicle’s negative battery cable. Double check to make sure everything is tight and properly positioned before starting the vehicle and check periodically for realignment, clearance, and tightening of all connections. Failure to follow the installation instructions or proper maintenance may void your warranty.
