MY RIG: 2016 Toyota Tundra 5.7L V8 CrewMax First of all, I will have to say that you can save yourself from paying almost $400 for a CAI from other competitors. I chose Spectre simply because it was worth it and affordable. I used to engage the Tow / Haul button on my 2016 Tundra in order to boost my torque a bit even though it should be used when loaded in order for the tranny to adjust its gears to lower ones for ease of load transport up and down. I know - I know, gas mileage is totally affected when driving down roads and highways that are predominantly flat. Now, back to this CAI - - after my install, I took it for a spin around my neighborhood noticing the non-need for the Tow / Haul button....it's like it started breathing better. I can't wait to test it out on the Interstate. INSTALLATION: I gave 4 stars because of the level of difficulty trying to thread a screw in a certain area near the firewall of the truck for heatshield security. I would've literally had to lay on top of my engine from right to left (head pointing towards the passenger side near the alarm horn). Mind you, the alarm horn wasn't in the way at all. I skipped bolting down the heat shield to that area - - the bolt on the base of the washer fluid reservoir and the mounting stud keeper holds everything in place nicely. I had a bit of difficulty putting the mass air flow sensor inside of the aluminum intake tube because of the plastic blocking some parts of the space where the sensor emerges - I had to carefully work it in w/o forcing damage to the sensor. Even though the instructions clearly states to plug in the mass air flow sensor into the aluminum intake tube in order to dodge the Check Engine light from turning on, I still got a Check Engine light alert along with the traction control turned off. I don't know how different anyone else's setup may be....this was my experience only. I used my mini Actron diagnostic scan tool and recv'd the P0101 trouble code for something wrong with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor or circuit. I cleared the code before driving around and it never came back on. The traction control stopped saying that it was off also. Just remember to leave all screws (for mounting of heat shield) and every clamp snug, but loose in order to maneuver the aluminum intake tube(s) around for final positioning. My DIY peeps, take your time The intake: I ordered the intake, it comes with the red filter. I ordered my intake with a white filter also in order to compliment my SilverSky Tundra. For this review, I can only speak for the 5.7L V8 model.
