2002-2009 GM, Saab and Isuzu Spectre Air Filters Designed to Boost Horsepower and Acceleration

Spectre HPR9345 Replacement Air Filter for GM, Saab and Isuzu

The Spectre HPR9345 Replacement Air Filter is designed to fit the factory air box of many GM, Saab and Isuzu models.

The Spectre HPR9345 replacement air filter is a great performance addition for your Saab or Isuzu that will provide years of protection and convenience.

Initially a Swedish company, Saab was created in 1945 to design and manufacture a small automobile. The result of that work was the Saab 92, the company’s first production model. Ten years later it created the 900, which became the company’s best selling model, and the 9000, which was released in the mid-1980s.

In 1989, American automobile manufacturer General Motors purchased 50% of the enterprise and by 2000 it owned the entire business. The first Saab model to be produced as a wholly owned subsidiary of GM was the Saab 9-3, which was unveiled in 2003. Later came the Saab 9-2X and the Saab 9-7X.

In 2008, when many automobile manufacturers were selling divisions due to a drop in business as a result of the Great Recession, General Motors started shopping its Saab division to other International automobile manufacturers. Many companies showed interest including BMW, Fiat, Hyundai, Magna, Renault, Tata Motors and even Chinese manufacturer BAIC. However, Netherlands-based boutique supercar manufacturer Spyker, ultimately acquired the venture.

Known as a Japanese commercial car and diesel engine manufacturer, Isuzu had produced more than 21 million diesel engines by 2009. Many of them have been used in vehicles manufactured by a wide range of International automakers including Ford and the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

In 1972 General Motors purchased a 34% stake in the company and just months later, the Chevrolet LUV became the first Isuzu-built vehicle to be sold in the United States. Isuzu also co-produced the Gemini with GM. Known as the T-car; it was used as the base for other General Motors cars including the Buick Opel in the United States and the Holden Gemini in Australia. The collaboration also led to the sale of American GM cars to Japanese customers through Isuzu dealerships.

Isuzu’s exports sales exploded from 0.7% in 1973 to 35.2% in 1976 as a result of its partnership with GM. As this was occurring, the company’s overall production increased more than fourfold during the same period. Moreover, GM divisions were using Isuzu engines. In 1981 Isuzu began selling cars in the United States under its own brand. The first model to be sold under the Isuzu nameplate was the P’Up.

Later Isuzu partnered with fellow Japanese-carmaker Suzuki to create a small car for General Motors known as the S-Car and General Motors and Isuzu continued their collaboration under a number of other ventures until 2009 when Isuzu discontinued sales of passenger cars in the United States.

As Saab, Isuzu and General Motors cars age, it becomes even more imperative for owners to take proactive steps to keep their cars running well. Using a quality HPR9345 air filter from Spectre will not only help to maintain the car, but it will improve its performance. Using a performance synthetic media, these filters have been designed to increase horsepower and acceleration in many General Motors, Saab and Isuzu models. They are also washable and can be cleaned and re-used instead of being thrown away when dirty like typical disposable air filters.
